Garden design

Our approach to projects is simple, design award winning gardens which are sustainable and biodiverse. Collaborating with our clients, architects, and other designers we combine our creative skills and practical approach to design truly immersive spaces.

Horticultural Consulting & Coaching

As an experienced gardener, designer and garden builder Jonathan has a wealth of knowledge to share on the management & creation of gardens. During consulting and coaching sessions, we explore your goals for your outdoor space and help put in place practical plans for achieving this. These are always collaborative sessions designed to empower you to get outside and have a go. A PDF report will be sent to you following your consultation and where needed ongoing, regular or seasonal visits can be made.

The Design Process

Our design process begins with an on-site consultation with Jonathan, this enables everyone to meet, look at the space and discuss what you are hoping to achieve. Following this initial meeting Jonathan will put together a draft brief and fee structure for your approval.

A further site meeting will then follow where we gather as much information as we can about what you want, and some pictures and initial sketches can be made. A detailed survey will then be carried out either by ourselves, for smaller spaces or for larger spaces we enlist the help of a surveyor for a topographical survey.

Back in the studio a 2D CAD plan is created, at this stage we use a combination of photos, mood boards and hand drawn sketches to communicate the feel of the garden. As we feed this back to you this gives you the opportunity to tweak the design, so the garden fulfils your dream space.

Once we are all in agreement a masterplan can be drawn up accompanied by a specification and any construction drawings that may be required. This allows a landscape contractor to be appointed, if Teasels Landscapes are going to build the garden Jonathan oversees the transition from design to build.

During the build, project monitoring is often required, if we complete the build this is included as part of the service, if you are using another contractor this is a service we offer.

No garden is complete without plants, as plant specialists Jonathan likes to select and procure the plants laying them out ready for planting, this process starts with a scale planting plan with mood board for your approval
