Project value £40-£50 000
Build Time – 13 weeks
Having moved into a modern new build property on the Suffolk coast our clients were looking for a low maintenance garden to enjoy for their retirement, their desire for the Mediterranean feel was catapulted with the mature olive tree which existed in the garden. The masterplan for this garden was put together by Sue Townsend Garden Design whose concept included curved porcelain terraces, curved paths with light Cotswold stone running through the garden and a dry river bed with path leading from the evening terrace to the main area of the garden.
The work on this garden included a retaining wall to stop the garden slipping into the neighbouring field and reducing the existing beech hedge and interplanting it with trees so views of the countryside could be enjoyed while the trees gave some protection from the elements. To separate the paths from the borders a steel edge was used, this rusty colour was then perfectly picked up with the feature bowls which were placed within the planting.
To enable this garden to be used well into the evening lighting was positioned and controlled from a switch inside, to make the garden low maintenance and help the planting establish irrigation was installed through the garden under a mulch.
